Preferred Seed's Best and Brightest Northeast Wildflower Mixture
Seeding Rate: For most applications, seed at 5 – 10 pounds per acre or 4 – 8 oz. per 1000 sq ft.
Best Time to Plant: Spring is the optimal time to plant Wildflowers. Summer seedings can be successful if watered until established (4 – 6 weeks). In cool season areas, mixture may be planted in the fall if seeds are planted late enough to be dormant until spring.
Preparation: Prepare seedbed by killing all weeds and grasses with an herbicide like ROUNDUP and mow off debris and remove. Rake seeds after broadcasting and cover lightly with topsoil. If hydroseeding mixture, no additional seed covering is needed.
Maintenance: Minimal maintenance is needed once established. The growing season may be extended by mowing after the flowers are through the peak of blooming. Mow at 6”, water and fertilize with 1 lb. per 1000 sq. ft. of 19-19-19. This will create a second bloom extending color until killing frost occurs.
